Haines 2 without Cooking Pot

This is the popular Haines 2 Solar Cooker without a cooking pot.  It includes the polycarbonate circular cover and cooking sleeve with silicone spacers to protect the cooking sleeve.  You will need to supply your own black or dark colored pot with lid.  The pot must have a top flange, no wider than the diameter of the pot, that can rest on top of the cooking sleeve.  It must not have side handles that would interfere with the cooking sleeve.  The lid must be tight-fitting and preferable made of glass so that the cooking process can be observed without removing the lid.

The Haines 2 works best with a pot that is around 11" in diameter and 4.5 liters in volume.  But your dimensions can vary.  A dark/black pot is best to absorb the heat.

Works great! Tried it out at home before putting it in the camper. It easily brought things to a boil to cook out batch of test potatoes. Really looking forward to not having to fire up the oven in the camper during the middle of summer anymore!

Works great

Solar cooker works great. I have to admit I was skeptical. Pot handle could be a little more durable though…dented the first time I dropped it but is still functional. Overall…great way to cook outdoors to keep the kitchen/camper temperatures down in the summer!

Excellent cooker

I bought my cooker based on the recommendation of my brother. The main reason I bought it is I’m in earthquake country and will need a cooking source and water boiling source in the event of the big one! It’s well made, well packaged and very light and portable.

Haines 2.0 solar cooker keeps improving, for use at home and in Sierra Leone too

I enjoy using one frequently in Upstate NY and I introduced. 3 to Sierra Leone in 2023. I appreciate the new side flaps that can be weighted down with rocks to stabilize cooker in windy conditions. I also like the idea that it can become a “heat retention oven” to keep food warm for hours. I would like to send more to Sierra Leone. The need and demand is strong and it literally can save and improve lives there.
I appreciate the inventor, owner Roger Haines, who has donated, helped expand this life - saving technology in Africa and elsewhere!!
